7th Annual Marathon Jam – Feb 28

1-Marathon Jam 022412 (37)-001

Event cancelled

The weather this week has not been good to us.  We received word from John Santa that the event is cancelled for this Saturday.  However, we are working with John to find an alternate date in about three to six weeks.  Then the show will again go on.  We thank everyone for their continuing support of this very important project.

The American Legion Chapel Hill is again the host site for the 7th Annual Marathon Jam as a national day of service by musicians to benefit the Fort Bragg Fisher House.  Fisher House is “a home away from home for wounded soldiers and their families.”

There are at least 12 hours of some of the best music of the year.  Those in attendance will hear everything from Bruce to Bluegrass played by some of the best musicians in North Carolina. Musicians are individually sponsored to play the full twelve hours.

Marathon Jam founder John Santa and his fellow Marathon Jammers are sponsored by people all over the state and they welcome local Chapel Hill sponsors as well, as they play music for TWELVE STRAIGHT HOURS to raise money to support the families of injured soldiers!

This is an event where EVERY SINGLE TAX DEDUCTIBLE PENNY we receive will stay here in North Carolina, as it has every year since we started. Our total for six years is over SEVENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS given to the Ft Bragg Fisher House and Marathon Jams nation-wide will raise over TWO HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS for Fisher Houses across the country in 2015!

John Santa is delighted to report that Marathon Jams have joined the Chapel Hill project in eighteen cities across the United States and in FOUR countries–the USA, Iraq, Afghanistan and Africa! This year we will be adding our FIFTH country when a Marathon Jam will be held for the first time in Vietnam!  All locations are working together as one project.

So, why not drop in for an hour or the whole 12 hours.  Let’s support our service men and women and their families at Fisher House.

John Santa will visit our Post at our February Meeting to encourage everyone to support this event.
