Carolina Veterans Organization

Food eventThere are about 500 veterans at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Many belong to the Carolina Veterans Organization (CVO).  A few of our members are part of this group and more are showing interest.

The CVO asked to use our post facilities last week to receive, sort, store, and ship out food to benefit the community homeless.  They arrived at the American Legion with a full truckload of canned goods and other food items for distribution.  It was a very impressive sight.

More food arrived during the day for sorting and separating. The collected food went to the Table NC in Carrboro, NC, and to the Central and Eastern Food Bank in Raleigh.

WCHL covered the story and published more on their Chapelboro.com website.  Details

Legionnaire Hunter Rudd, of the Carolina Veterans Organization, worked on this project for over a month as a means of showing that local veterans can and do get involved on campus.

We salute Hunter Rudd, Shane Hall, and other CVO members for their hard work.
