DD Form 214 and You

For a veteran, the most important form is a DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty).  It is the form that proves active military service and service characterization.  It is needed for VA care and benefits, proof of eligibility for veterans groups, and burial honors and interment.
