Join us for Memorial Day, May 30th
Join us for Memorial Day, May 30th

Memorial Day is very special to our post.  We remember those who have served their country and are now departed.  They will never be forgotten and  we have honored them annually since 1920.

This year we will continue our tradition of hosting an Open House on Memorial Day.  This is on MONDAY, May 30th, 2016.  The post will open at 10 am for the open house with the post home open to the public and a display of military mementos and historic items.  We welcome our Chapel Hill and Orange County neighbors to join us as we salute our deceased service men and women of our community.

A memorial service will take place at 11 am with Post Commander William Munsee as our speaker.  The service will culminate with a wreath dedication and placement before the post flagpole.

Chapel Hill Boy Scout Troop 835 (Amity United Methodist Church sponsors) will prepare and serve hot dogs at noon to all guests.  The food and beverages are provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, C V Cummings Chapel Hill Post 9100 as a community service.

Memorial Day Flyer 2016Chapel Hill’s Village Band will provide patriotic and historic music in an outdoor concert.  This annual concert is a highlight of our post’s Memorial Day commemoration.

Local collectors of military and historic vehicles have been invited to participate and display their vehicles and we often have a number of them on site.

All local veterans’ groups and the Orange County Veterans Service Officer will be represented to answer questions about their programs and to provide information on veterans services and benefits.

Are you a veteran and not a member of a local group?  Why not consider joining other veterans.  There is much work to do in our community of Chapel Hill and Orange County.  You, too, can make a difference.
